Twins Test
Twins Test
Are your twins identical or fraternal? We can help you answer this question by providing 100% accurate results about your precious twins. Identical (monozygotic) twins develop from one egg splitting and forming two embryos; therefore, they will have the same genetic information. Fraternal (heretozygotic) twins, however, develop from separate eggs being fertilised by two different sperm, producing two children that are genetically unique.
Why do a Twins DNA Test?
People request our Twins DNA Test for a number of reasons, including;
- Medical necessity – In certain medical situations where organ transplant or a blood transfusion is necessary, one twin may be able to save the life of the other twin. Knowing this information about your Twin’s DNA beforehand will allow quick action if the occasion arises.
- Curiosity – Parents may simply be curious as to whether their twins are identical or fraternal.
Timely
Your time is precious and you most likely want, and sometimes need, your results quickly. The turnaround time from us receiving your sample to providing your results back to you is within 5-7 working days.
There is an option to purchase our express service, but this is only available for mouth swab samples. Discreet samples (where hair, blood, semen, or cigarette butts are tested via DNA extraction) are not open to the express service.
If you really want your results in a hurry, using registered post or a courier service is the best option.
The Ordering Process
These days, we can do so many things from the comfort of our home, so why not a DNA test as well? We have perfected our streamlined process so it’s as easy as:
- Order – Choose your test and order it online
- Pay – Pay for your test and any extras you require
- Receive – You will get your home sample collection kit in the mail, which contains everything required to undertake the test at home (including instructions for use, oral swabs, consent forms, and a return envelope)
- Results – Receive your results within a quick timeframe
Sometimes, the person who needs a test lives in a different location to their child, which makes the whole testing process seem problematic, but we can definitely still provide support in these situations. Simply provide the address of the other test participant, whether it’s in Australia or around the world, and they will receive a home sample collection kit to complete. The only impact this may have on your DNA test is, potentially, additional delays to postage times.
DNA Testing Kits & How to Use Them
DNA testing kits are simple to use, which is why you can do them from the comfort of your own home! Once you have selected the DNA test that suits your needs, it will be delivered to your address of choice. Each kit contains precise instructions on how to use the materials provided within and details about where to send your sample once you have completed the test.
Most at home test kits include mouth swabs, storage envelopes, a collection bag, and full instructions. All contents arrive sterile and ready to use. The swabs are the same as those used by medical practitioners and are similar to swabs that you’d use on other parts of the body.
As the name suggests, oral swabs are used for the collection of DNA from the mouth. To do this, simply rub the swab against the inside of your mouth. Doing this releases the cells from the sides of your mouth onto the swab. When you have used all of the swabs according to the instructions, air dry the swabs as shown in the instructions and, when dry, place in the appropriate envelope and prepare to send your DNA off to be tested in our accredited laboratories.
It really is that simple! No pain, no fuss, and no leaving your house!
